Mardi Gras season is upon is once again! Frenchmen Street in the Marigny neighborhood just outside the French Quarter is ground zero for some serious Mardi Gras revelry including several popular parades, Chewbacchus and Krewe Du Vieux, which go directly down the street past all the bars and clubs.
The Chewbacchus parade pays tribute to Star Wars and all facets of geekdom, cos play, and sci-fi. It rolls through the Marigny and down Frenchmen Street Saturday Feb 9th.
WATCH CHEWBACCHUS FROM DRAGON'S DEN'S BALCONY
The Dragon's Den is hosting an exclusive balcony viewing party and only selling a limited amount of tickets. Tickets can be purchased here.
KREWE DU VIEUX
The Krewe du Vieux is a non-profit organization dedicated to the historical and traditional concept of a Mardi Gras parade as a venue for individual creative expression and satirical comment. It is unique among all Mardi Gras parades in the city because it alone carries on the old traditions of Carnival celebrations, by using decorated mule-drawn floats with satirical themes, accompanied by costumed revelers dancing in the streets to the sounds of jazzy street musicians.
MARDI GRAS DAY
Mardi Gras Day is the best day of the year to hang out on Frenchmen Street. It's an all day street party as a cavalcade of organic street parades and walking krewes navigate their way down the street all day long into the night!
