Shotgun Jazz Band

shotgun jazz bandPlaying traditional jazz with a feisty background of swing, the Shotgun Jazz Band combines an irresistible set of rhythms with an abiding love of the bluesy, driving sound that used to fill the city’s dance halls. While the influences are old-school, this band’s appeal is nothing short of timeless: a Shotgun show promises nothing less than a high-energy, foot-stomping evening of musical mayhem. They released their first album Algiers Strut in October 2011, featuring Marla Dixon on vocals, Ben Polcer of Meschiya Lake & the Little Big Horns on piano and vocals, John Dixon on banjo, Christopher Johnson of Smoking Time Jazz Club on tenor sax, and John Gross of the Panorama Jazz Band on sousaphone.
